Singapore to buy US aircraft, torpedoes to boost Asia maritime security

The United States has approved a $2.3 billion sale of P-8A maritime patrol aircraft, torpedoes, and related equipment to Singapore. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) stated the sale will enhance Singapore's maritime capabilities and deter potential threats, contributing to political stability and economic progress in Asia. The US State Department has approved the sale, and the DSCA has notified Congress, which must approve the transaction. Singapore announced its decision to acquire four Boeing P-8As in 2025. The aircraft is designed for maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare, equipped with advanced sensors, radar systems, and avionics.
