Envoy urges ‘shared prosperity’ in China-Asean ties amid growing protectionism

China's ambassador to ASEAN, Wang Qing, emphasized the importance of continued economic cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations at a forum in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Tuesday. Wang urged both sides to commit to shared economic success and oppose external interference amid rising global protectionism and unilateralism. Despite ASEAN members pursuing trade deals with the United States, Wang expressed confidence that these agreements would not negatively impact China-Asean cooperation.
