The 54-year-old revealed he was given a 50% chance of survival after the disease affected his brain, causing paralysis and the inability to speak or walk upon waking on December 27th. Martyn expressed gratitude to medical staff, family, and friends for their support during his hospitalization. He highlighted the fragility of life and his determination to return to normalcy. Martyn, who debuted for Australia in 1992, had a successful career including scoring 13 Test centuries and playing in the 2003 World Cup-winning team.
