Investigators examine whether Ukraine terrorist attack was directed by Russia
Ukrainian investigators are examining a possible link to Russia in a Kyiv terrorist attack on Saturday where a gunman, Dmytro Vasylchenkov, killed six people and injured 14 others before being killed by police. The attacker, a Ukrainian citizen born in Moscow, opened fire on passersby, barricaded himself in a supermarket, and took hostages in the Holosiivskyi district. Vasylchenkov had a criminal record, Russian bank accounts, a Russian phone number, and traveled to Russia in 2016. He also posted anti-Ukrainian and antisemitic content online, supporting Russian capture of Bakhmut. Authorities are investigating whether he acted alone or was directed by Moscow, noting Russia's past recruitment of Ukrainians for sabotage.
