Mossad says Israel will keep trying to topple Iran’s government

Mossad chief David Barnea stated that Israel will continue covert operations aimed at toppling Iran's government. This announcement comes despite ongoing US efforts to negotiate with Iran. Barnea indicated that Israel's previous military actions against Iranian military and nuclear sites, conducted with US support, have not achieved the desired outcome of regime change. He emphasized that the Mossad's mission will only be complete when the current Iranian leadership is replaced, citing the regime's perceived threat to Israel's existence. While Israel has a history of covert actions within Iran, Barnea's explicit declaration of seeking regime change is a notable departure from past statements.

Mossad Director Dadi Barnea stated that Israel's operations against Iran will continue until the current "extremist regime" is replaced. This announcement was made during a Holocaust commemoration event. Barnea emphasized the meticulous planning behind the operations, ensuring their continuation even after strikes in Tehran. He highlighted the achievements of "Operation Roaring Lion," which began on February 28th, citing a significant blow to Iran's objective of destroying Israel. The operation, a joint effort with the U.S. called "Operation Epic Fury," has reportedly decimated Iran's military and missile infrastructure and resulted in the death of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei. Mojtaba Khamenei has succeeded his father as Iran's new Supreme Leader, and is reportedly recovering from injuries sustained during the initial airstrikes.
