Several dead and seriously injured in head-on motorway collision in Ireland

Irish police stated that the crash involved a car traveling in the wrong direction on the highway. Commissioner Justin Kelly described the incident as "horrific" and suggested that in some instances, vehicles are driven on the wrong side of highways for social media attention. The collision happened at approximately 3 am near junction 3, involving two cars. Emergency services were alerted to a vehicle traveling southbound on the northbound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4. One of the seriously injured individuals is a child.
