Hong Kong unveils its first dedicated psychiatric facility for under-18s

Kwai Chung Hospital, Hong Kong's main psychiatric facility, has opened the city's first dedicated psychiatric unit for patients under 18. This new facility is part of a broader redevelopment project that has significantly expanded the hospital's size and capacity. The redevelopment increased the construction floor area to 134,000 square metres, allowing for a total of 1,000 beds for psychiatric patients. The project also included the relocation of specialist outpatient clinics, day hospital facilities, and inpatient services to new buildings. These upgrades aim to improve service quality and promote patient recovery.
