Electrochemist Liu Jiawei moves from Singapore to Hong Kong to start her own lab

Materials scientist and chemist Liu Jiawei has relocated from Singapore to Hong Kong to establish her own research group. After ten years in Singapore's research environment, Liu sought a move that would bring her closer to her family in mainland China while preserving access to a high-standard, international research setting. Two years after her arrival, she is now establishing her laboratory at City University of Hong Kong (CityU). Liu noted that Hong Kong's academic system operates on an independent principal investigator model, granting researchers significant autonomy over their labs and research focus.
