Albanese: Canberra to join Australia’s gun buy-back programme after Bondi attack

Australia's capital, Canberra, will participate in a national gun buy-back program. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced this decision on Saturday as part of the government's response to a shooting at a Jewish festival in Sydney. This initiative follows laws enacted in January by Albanese's center-left government, which also include stricter gun license checks and measures to combat hate speech. The gun buy-back program is scheduled to commence on November 2. New South Wales, Australia's most populous state, was the first to commit to this plan.
