Government still weighing decision on restricting proxy voters, Hong Kong official says

Hong Kong authorities are still considering whether to restrict proxy voters at homeowners' meetings to relatives or other flat owners within the same estate. The proposed amendments to the Building Management Ordinance aim to enhance the legitimacy of proxy votes and combat bid-rigging, addressing concerns about minority manipulation of voting results. Director of Home Affairs Priscilla To Kit-lai stated on Saturday that the government has not yet made a final decision on this specific restriction, as such a measure might be considered overly strict. The ultimate goal of the amendments is to prevent the manipulation of voting outcomes.
