Hong Kong downgrades red rainstorm warning to amber, afternoon school to proceed

Hong Kong's red rainstorm warning has been downgraded to amber by the weather forecaster. This change occurred at 9:20 AM as the heavy rain over the city eased. Earlier, at 5:05 AM, the red signal, the middle tier of a three-level system, was issued. In response to the initial red warning, morning and whole-day schools were suspended. However, with the downgrade to amber, education authorities announced that afternoon classes would proceed. The Observatory also issued a Special Landslip Advisory for Po Toi Island due to the risk of landslides from the heavy rainfall.
