China demands rights guarantee as US firm secures 100-year Venezuelan oil deal

China has demanded that its interests in Venezuela be protected following the granting of 100-year oilfield concessions to a US-backed energy company. These oilfields were previously operated by Chinese and Russian firms. A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman stated that China-Venezuela cooperation is protected by international law and the laws of both nations, and that China's legitimate rights and interests in Venezuela must be guaranteed. He further emphasized that economic and trade cooperation between countries should adhere to principles of equality, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation.
