Singapore jails Indian man who hid US$154,000 diamond in mouth during heist

An Indian man, Serasiya Milan Ramnikbhai, has been sentenced to 26 months and two weeks in jail for his involvement in a diamond heist in Singapore's Chinatown. Ramnikbhai pleaded guilty to theft with common intention. The 30-year-old concealed a custom-made fake diamond in his mouth, used it to switch with a real diamond, and then hid the genuine stone in the same manner. His accomplice, Mangroliya Manojkumar Kurjibha, received the same sentence in July. The pair had commissioned a counterfeit diamond in India that matched the specifications and serial number of the targeted stone. Kurjibha is credited with forming the plan, sourcing the fake diamond, identifying the target jeweler, and arranging travel and accommodation.
