US universities curb international student internships following federal warning

Several major US universities have restricted or paused Curricular Practical Training (CPT) for international students. CPT is a work authorization that permits foreign students to engage in internships and practical training relevant to their academic programs. These changes were implemented after the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme (SEVP), a division of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, issued two directives in August. These directives adopt a stricter interpretation of when CPT can be authorized, impacting international students' ability to pursue internships and off-campus work opportunities.
