‘A victim’: American Bully dies in surgery, owners question fighting dog rules

The owners of an American Bully named Monchiu are questioning Hong Kong authorities' classification of the breed as "fighting dogs" after their pet died during a neutering surgery. Monchiu passed away under anesthesia on Friday at a veterinary clinic. Her owners stated on social media that they proceeded with the surgery, despite believing the dog was unfit due to existing health issues, out of fear she would be taken into the custody of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. This decision was made amidst a crackdown on non-compliance with breed regulations. The owners are challenging the "fighting dog" classification for their pet.
