More than 1,000 children dead in Bangladesh measles crisis

Health officials in Bangladesh reported that the death toll from measles has surpassed 1,000 children since March. The country has recorded 1,002 deaths and 187,484 infections among children, marking the deadliest outbreak in decades. Officials acknowledged that shortcomings in a vaccination drive may have contributed to the surge in cases. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory illness with no specific treatment once contracted.
