Malaysian woman scuba diving in Bali dies after being swept away by currents

A Malaysian woman has died while scuba diving after she was caught in strong currents in Bali, Indonesia.According to local media portal Bali News, the victim, Siti Nuraini Rusidi, 40, was on a diving trip with a divemaster, boat captain and several other divers when the incident occurred at 11.10am local time on Wednesday.The trip’s divemaster, Eugenius Franciso Ray, 33, had reportedly raised concerns over her health when he noticed her coughing when the group was at the first dive site at Manta Bay.He asked Siti Nuraini about her condition but she said she was able to continue with the dive. The group then completed their dive and proceeded to Crystal Bay.However, the group encountered extremely strong sea currents at the second dive site.Three divers were swept away by currents and Siti Nuraini was later found dead.The incident has reignited concerns about safety at Indonesian tourist sites.Over the years, maritime and other transport accidents have cast a spotlight on poor Safety Standards, faulty equipment, decrepit infrastructure and a lack of accountability in the country.In May, two Austrian tourists died on the island of Flores after a wooden suspension bridge they were crossing near the famous Cunca Wulang Waterfall collapsed, throwing them onto the rocks below.A Saudi national was killed in a jet ski accident in West Java in January while riding in rough seas.
