Police arrest man, 34, over hidden cameras found in Hong Kong gym changing rooms

Hong Kong police have arrested a 34-year-old gym user in connection with the installation of three suspected pinhole cameras found in changing rooms at a 24/7 Fitness branch in Sha Tin.The arrest on Sunday came a day after police launched an investigation into the suspected voyeurism case at the outlet on Lek Yuen Street.A police spokesman said officers arrested the suspect, a local man, in Sha Tin and he remained in custody as investigations continued.Police found three hidden pinhole cameras in three changing rooms. Photo: HandoutIn a statement on Sunday night, 24/7 Fitness said it had zero tolerance for any acts that infringed upon members’ privacy and had immediately suspended the membership of the individual involved.The fitness chain again apologised to affected members and all customers.It added that it had introduced new procedures and stepped up inspections across all branches, including using new technological devices, and targeted checks of concealed areas in bathrooms, changing rooms and toilets to ensure members could use its facilities in a safe and secure environment.Officers were alerted on Friday after a suspected pinhole camera was found attached with black tape to the false ceiling of a changing room in the fitness centre.A search uncovered another two suspected pinhole cameras in two changing rooms in the branch.
