China executes 11 linked to Myanmar scam operations: State media

China has executed 11 people linked to online scam operations in Myanmar, according to state media. The executions were carried out by a court in Wenzhou, eastern China, and were approved by the Supreme People's Court in Beijing. Those executed included members of the "Ming family criminal group", whose activities contributed to the deaths of 14 Chinese citizens and injuries to many others. The crimes include intentional homicide, intentional injury, unlawful detention, fraud, and casino establishment. The scam operations, which target Chinese speakers initially but have expanded into multiple languages, have extracted billions of dollars from around the world through phone and internet scams. The crackdown is part of Beijing's efforts to crack down on the illegal operations in cooperation with Thailand and Myanmar.
