Woman in India injured after gas-filled balloons explode in lift

Two people were injured when a cluster of gas-filled balloons intended for a birthday party exploded inside a lift in India.A 21-year-old student, Himani Tapriya, suffered burns to her arm, neck and stomach while the delivery man, 32-year-old Raju Kumar Mahato, was also injured in the fireball.CCTV footage of the incident shows Tapriya wheeling a bag into the small passenger lift. Mahato enters with a plastic bag filled with white, gold and peach balloons and balances them against the wall.As a third person steps into the lift, the balloons suddenly burst into flames, which briefly fills the confined space. All three people can be seen running out of the lift when its doors open, with Tapriya leaving her bag behind in the panic.The incident occurred around 10.30pm on Monday in Mumbai’s Anmol Tower, according to the India" class="entity-link entity-organization" data-entity-id="20194" data-entity-type="organization">Times of India.“Mahato was carrying around 10 to 12 gas-filled balloons that were ordered by a building resident, Arpit Jain, for a birthday celebration in his family,” a police officer told the newspaper.
