FBI fugitive found hiding in Wales can be extradited to USA

8 minutes agoTelor IwanBBC WalesFBIDaniel Andreas San Diego, 47, was on the run from the FBI for 21 yearsA suspected terrorist who evaded the FBI for more than 20 years before being found in Wales can be sent back to the USA to face trial, a court has heard.Daniel Andreas San Diego, 47, was one of the agency's "most wanted fugitives" after bombings in San Francisco, California, in 2003.He was arrested in November 2024 in a remote location near Maenan, Conwy, after 21 years on the run.Judge Goozée told Westminster Magistrates Court the arguments raised by Mr San Diego's legal team were rejected.A decision whether an appeal will be lodged will be taken at a later date.Mr San Diego, who was born in Berkeley, California, is accused of of planting three nail bombs across California in 2003.He became a prime suspect in the bombings after being stopped by traffic police close to where one of the devices exploded. He was released, after which he vanished.At an earlier hearing, the court was told that his fingerprints were found among some bomb-making equipment in the car he abandoned.An extremist animal rights group claimed responsibility for the incidents at the Chiron biotechnology corporation in Emeryville and the Shaklee nutritional products corporation in Pleasanton.There were no injuries sustained in either bombing.This breaking news story is being updated and more details will be published shortly.
