Use of Irish airport for ICE deportation flights of Palestinians ‘deeply disturbing’

Politicians in Ireland are criticizing the use of Shannon Airport for refueling stops by ICE deportation flights carrying Palestinians from the US to Israel in January and February. The flights were chartered by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) using a private jet owned by Donald Trump donor Gil Dezer. Irish politicians expressed concern that Ireland may be complicit in the deportations and called for government intervention to prevent future occurrences. The Irish government stated that the flights did not require prior approval as they were only for refueling and did not involve passengers boarding or disembarking in Ireland. Human Rights First reports that Dezer's jet has been used for deportation flights since October, including flights to Kenya and Liberia.
