Take your relationship to the next level, Spanish bishops tell couples

Faced with a sharp decline in church weddings, Spanish bishops are launching a video game called "Level Up! A Two-player Game" to encourage more couples to marry in the church. In 2024, less than 18% of Spanish weddings occurred in a church, a significant drop from 2007. The game, developed with input from students at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, presents players with real-life scenarios to explore qualities important for marriage, such as patience and empathy. The initiative aims to showcase the beauty of Christian marriage and encourage couples desiring stable commitments to consider a church wedding. This is the latest effort by the church, which also introduced a longer premarital guidance course six years ago, to promote and safeguard the sacrament of marriage in Spain.
