Lobbyist in Labour Together scandal has been investigating Guardian reporter, say reports

A lobbyist, Tom Harper of Apco, who previously investigated journalists involved in a story about undisclosed donations to Labour Together, is now accused of investigating a Guardian reporter, Henry Dyer. Harper's earlier report, commissioned by Labour Together, examined journalists' backgrounds and falsely linked the story to a Russian hack. The Sunday Times reports Harper recently inquired about Dyer, suggesting a connection to a pro-Russia campaign without evidence. Apco is already under investigation by a PR trade body for its research into journalists. Josh Simons, a Cabinet Office minister who was director of Labour Together when the initial investigation was commissioned, is facing calls for his dismissal and a Whitehall ethics inquiry due to his involvement in falsely accusing journalists of Russian links. Emails reveal Simons also shared unsubstantiated claims about a journalist's connection to a former Corbyn advisor suspected of Russian ties with security officials.
