China’s top advisory body urges Greater Bay Area cities to align rules, regulations

China’s top advisory body has called on Hong Kong, Macau and the nine other Guangdong cities of the Greater Bay Area to better align their rules and regulations under a key directive in its latest annual work report.Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, delivered the nation’s top advisory body’s annual work report during its opening meeting, in which Hong Kong was briefly mentioned.The Communist Party’s fourth most senior official said the CPPCC had deliberated over the past year on strengthening rule alignment across the Greater Bay Area.Wang highlighted the CPPCC’s efforts to better support Hong Kong’s integration into national development by organising duty visits for local delegates.He noted that CPPCC members from Hong Kong and Macau had organised 107 on-campus outreach programmes to promote national affairs among students.Wang added that more than 200 local delegates had been invited to attend China’s Victory Day military parade in Beijing last year.In last year’s work report, Wang said the CPPCC had rolled out a scheme to facilitate exchanges between the city’s delegates and their mainland Chinese counterparts.
