Kennedy Center exodus continues as National Symphony director Jean Davidson exits

Jean Davidson, executive director of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the Kennedy Center, is departing to become executive director and CEO of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Davidson's exit is the latest in a series of departures from the Kennedy Center since Donald Trump began exerting influence over the institution. Davidson cited "external forces" beyond her control as a factor in her decision. Trump has recently targeted the Kennedy Center, replacing its leadership and proposing changes, leading to canceled performances and the end of the Washington National Opera's residency. Davidson will succeed Robert van Leer at the Wallis Annenberg Center.
