Chinese man lives for 8 years with chopstick stuck in throat, resisting surgery due to fear

A Chinese man, surnamed Wang, lived for eight years with a 12cm-long metal chopstick lodged in his throat. The incident occurred when he accidentally swallowed it while eating and drinking alcohol. Despite experiencing pain, he did not have breathing difficulties and avoided seeking medical attention due to fear of surgery. He finally underwent surgery to remove the chopstick at Dalian Municipal Central Hospital in Liaoning province in early March. The case has garnered attention online due to the unusual circumstances and the length of time the object remained in his throat.
