2 Killed in Vehicle Ramming and Stabbing in Israel, Officials Say

An attacker from the Israeli-occupied West Bank killed two people in a car ramming and stabbing attack in northern Israel on Friday, the Israeli authorities said.The Israeli Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the attack, in Israel’s Galilee region, was terrorism.The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank as Israel continues a monthslong crackdown on militants there that has resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands of people.A male pedestrian was run over in Beit Shean near the Israeli border with Jordan, the police said, and a young woman was then stabbed nearby. Magen David Adom, an Israeli emergency rescue service, confirmed the deaths of both people. It said two others had sustained minor injuries.A civilian opened fire on the attacker, who was later taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, the police said.This is a developing story.
