Trump tariff refund tool will go live on April 20, US Customs says

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that a tool for importers to request tariff refunds, called CAPE, will launch on April 20. This action follows a Supreme Court ruling in February that invalidated tariffs imposed by President Trump using emergency powers. In the initial phase, CAPE will process refund requests for simpler and more recent import entries. The system will allow importers to file paperwork to recoup duties paid under the invalidated tariffs. More complex refund scenarios will be addressed in later phases of the program. The implementation of CAPE aims to comply with the Supreme Court's decision and provide a mechanism for importers to recover funds.
