Trump’s plan to build a Triumphal Arch gets a hearing before a key federal agency

President Trump's proposal for a Triumphal Arch in Washington D.C. is under review by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts on Thursday, along with other projects. The arch, intended to be a prominent entrance to the capital, is described by Trump as a grand and beautiful addition. The commission is also considering Trump's plan to paint the Eisenhower Executive Office Building white and construct an underground security screening center for White House visitors. The Commission will review design plans for all three projects. A separate panel, the National Capital Planning Commission, will also review the arch design for consideration and approval. The arch is planned to be 250 feet tall, featuring a Lady Liberty-like figure, eagles, lions, and gilded accents.
