Cuba arrests alleged Chinese fentanyl kingpin who escaped custody in Mexico

Cuba has arrested Zhi Dong Zhang, a Chinese national known as "Brother Wang", who is alleged to be a major international money laundering operator and fentanyl kingpin. Zhang escaped from house arrest in Mexico earlier this year while awaiting extradition to the US on money laundering charges. He is also wanted by Mexican authorities for his ties to Sinaloa and Jalisco New Generation drug cartels. The US has issued a warrant for Zhang's arrest due to his role in establishing connections between Chinese suppliers of fentanyl and other cartels. Zhang's arrest was made possible after he was recaptured from Cuba, where he had been held since his escape from Mexico. He will remain in Cuba awaiting a decision on his possible extradition to the US.
