Shenzhen nuclear power plant glitch posed no safety risk, Hong Kong authorities say

Hong Kong authorities have stated that an operational glitch at the Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station in Shenzhen, China, posed no safety risk. The incident, which occurred last Thursday, involved the closure of a cooling water isolation valve. The plant was undergoing a scheduled refuelling overhaul of one of its units at the time. Guangdong's Nuclear Emergency Committee Office notified Hong Kong authorities of the event. The Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station is located approximately 50 kilometers north of urban Hong Kong. Officials confirmed that there was no threat to public health or the environment.
