How has China’s year-long law enforcement campaign changed local governance?

China's State Council announced the results of a year-long campaign, concluding in March, aimed at disciplining local bureaucracies and improving governance by targeting irregular law enforcement against businesses. The campaign uncovered over 66,000 problematic administrative law enforcement cases, leading to the recovery of 30.7 billion yuan (US$4.5 billion) for companies. Authorities reported that more than 300,000 unqualified law enforcement personnel were removed or reassigned, and over 400,000 unnecessary enforcement items were eliminated nationwide. This initiative sought to rectify issues within local governance and create a more favorable business environment.
