Hong Kong authorities to take over care of undocumented baby after parents’ arrest

Hong Kong social welfare authorities are set to assume care of a two-month-old baby, identified as Danny, following the arrest of his parents on suspicion of child neglect. Legislator Reverend Peter Koon Ho-ming revealed that the Social Welfare Department has applied to the court for a protection order for the child's well-being and has developed a care plan. The department intends to care for Danny for at least a year, with the possibility of placing him in foster care until his parents are deemed fit to resume custody. This action was disclosed after the department confirmed its court application on Tuesday night.
