Real-name booking planned for Hong Kong geopark trail to curb scalping, no-shows

Hong Kong authorities are implementing a pilot scheme requiring real-name reservations for visits to the popular Po Pin Chau trail in the geopark. This measure aims to combat scalping and no-shows, according to Undersecretary for Environment and Ecology Diane Wong Shuk-han. Speaking to a Legislative Council subcommittee on Monday, Wong stated that a first-come-first-served system will not be used. Instead, officials are exploring a ballot mechanism to prevent scalping. Real-name registration will allow authorities to identify individuals who have previously made reservations but failed to attend, enabling them to be "handled appropriately" for future bookings.
