US-China talks need to be ‘institutionalised’ to ease tensions in AI era: Haass

Richard Haass, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, has stated that the United States and China should institutionalize their diplomatic interactions. Speaking at the annual Caixin Summit in Hong Kong, Haass advocated for regular high-level meetings between senior officials from both countries. He believes these meetings should become routine, rather than isolated events. Haass also suggested deepening cooperation on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, emphasizing that increased transparency is crucial to prevent a decline in US-China relations.
