This new branch of political thought emphasizes governing the party with discipline and unified leadership. The announcement was made during a national conference on party building on Monday. State broadcaster CCTV reported that the concept was hailed as a significant milestone in Marxist theory and the history of the Chinese Communist Party. The phrase was officially coined at a meeting chaired by Cai Qi, the party's ideology chief and a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, attended by officials responsible for discipline and personnel.
