Hong Kong eases licensing criteria for rural guest houses and campsites

Hong Kong's Home Affairs Department has eased licensing criteria for rural guest houses and campsites to boost tourism outside urban areas. On Monday, they released two new guides: a dedicated guide for village houses and an updated guide for holiday campsites, which covers buildings, caravan sites, and tent camping. These changes offer more flexibility in building and fire safety requirements for certain rural properties. This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to promote rural tourism, as outlined in the Chief Executive's 2025 policy address.
