‘Quad bike hero’ hailed for carrying people to and from scene of Spain train crash

Following a train collision in Adamuz, southern Spain, that killed at least 41 people, local lottery ticket seller Gonzalo Sánchez used his quad bike to transport rescuers and victims around the remote crash site. Sánchez responded after receiving alerts about the derailment and discovering a second train was involved in the collision, which occurred in a difficult-to-access area. He spent approximately six hours ferrying firefighters, paramedics, police, and injured passengers along the narrow terrain beside the tracks. The collision involved a high-speed train carrying about 300 passengers that derailed and collided with an oncoming train carrying about 200 passengers. Sánchez's efforts were part of a larger community response, with residents offering support, shelter, and supplies to those affected.
