Hong Kong political parties urge access to fertility services for single women

Hong Kong political parties are urging the government to allow unmarried women access to assisted reproductive services and to extend the expiring newborn baby bonus. These proposals were presented to Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu ahead of his upcoming policy address and the city's first five-year plan. The New People’s Party (NPP) also suggested a progressive bonus for families with multiple children. These calls come as Hong Kong's registered births reached a historic low of 31,100 in 2025, despite existing government efforts to increase the fertility rate.
