China warns of more extreme weather as Bavi leaves trail of rain, flooding

Chinese forecasters warned that more extreme weather was on the horizon as the country continued to battle the aftereffects of former typhoon Bavi on Wednesday.Jilin province in the northeast issued an emergency alert on Tuesday night for flooding of multiple rivers. Authorities called for traffic controls, cautioned residents to stay home and ordered people near the rivers to evacuate.Jilin weather authorities said that due to heavy rain, at least 10 cities in the foothills of the Changbai Mountains were at risk of landslides on Wednesday. The mountain range stretches across northeast China and into North Korea.
