78 arrested in crackdown on illegal gambling, including racecourse syndicate

Hong Kong police arrested 78 individuals, ranging in age from 16 to 68, during a crackdown on illegal activities. The enforcement efforts, conducted between July 7 and Monday, targeted illicit drug, gambling, prostitution, and triad activities on Hong Kong Island. Among those arrested were individuals suspected of operating an unlawful gambling establishment and illegal bookmaking, including a syndicate at the Happy Valley racecourse. The arrested individuals, comprising 42 men and 36 women, are suspected of offenses such as operating an unlawful gambling establishment, illegal bookmaking, betting, and criminal intimidation. Some of the arrestees reportedly have triad backgrounds.
