Perfume ban, no-fly zone – as Apec summit looms, Shenzhen ramps up security

Shenzhen, China, is implementing enhanced security measures in preparation for hosting the Apec Economic Leaders’ Meeting in four months. The city government announced that subway passengers will undergo scanning, with carry-on items subjected to X-ray screening to ensure travel safety. New restrictions prohibit passengers from carrying large bottles of perfume, open alcohol, cigarette lighters, or pesticides on the subway, in addition to previously banned items like explosives. The city has also established a no-fly zone for drones. These measures aim to bolster security ahead of the major international event.
