Myanmar military escalates civilian killings under new command, monitor reports

Myanmar's military has significantly increased attacks on civilians since a new administration took office, according to a report by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED). This escalation is attributed to the tactics of the new military chief, who assumed command in late March. ACLED states that since the ruling junta reconfigured its military command structure in March, civilians have faced worsening repression and an intensified aerial bombing campaign. This surge in violence occurs as regional governments are increasing their diplomatic efforts.
