Woman rejects links to Singapore ex-minister Faishal’s resignation

A Singapore fitness instructor linked to former acting minister-in-charge of Muslim affairs Faishal Ibrahim’s resignation has denied rumours that she was the woman with whom he had inappropriate interactions.Rasidah Caudal told This Week in Asia on Monday that she had filed a complaint with Singapore’s Online Safety Commission, which helps people deal with online harms such as doxxing and harassment, and intended to lodge a police report.Faishal, 58, resigned last Monday from the cabinet, as an MP and from the ruling People’s Action Party over inappropriate interactions with a woman whose identity has not been publicly revealed.Faishal said while there was no “physical relationship” between him and the woman, there was a lapse of judgment in how he handled interactions with her and in “failing to establish clearer boundaries at an earlier stage”.Caudal said the online rumours had left her concerned about her safety and that of her family ahead of a fitness event next month.She told This Week in Asia: “I have a coming fitness event on August 15, I am worried about it and the safety. More importantly, I am worried about my family and myself.”
