Hong Kong Cyclothon

The Hong Kong Cyclothon, a flagship annual cycling event hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, is set to return on October 11. This year's event will feature a new, extended 56km non-competitive ride, showcasing a "Five Tunnels, Three Bridges" route. Public registration for the event, which offers over 6,500 places across two non-competitive rides, opens on Thursday. The Cyclothon is part of Hong Kong's broader strategy to boost tourism and economic activity through mega-events. Financial Secretary Paul Chan recently reported that major events in the first half of the year attracted 1.75 million visitors and generated HK$5.8 billion in spending. The return of the Cyclothon, with its enhanced route, signifies the ongoing effort to draw visitors and stimulate the local economy through large-scale sporting and tourism initiatives.
