Kumamoto earthquake

On 28 July 2026 at approximately 16:27:15 JST, an earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture in southern Japan with a magnitude of Mww 6.8 at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi), later revised to 16 km (9.9 mi). At least 38 people were killed and more than 368 were injured.
