Lockerbie bombing

The trial of Abu Agila Mohammad Masud, a former Libyan intelligence official charged in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, has been postponed for the third time. Jury selection was scheduled to begin in Washington D.C. this week, but a federal judge granted the delay after defense lawyers requested more time to examine newly discovered evidence. The bombing, which occurred on December 21, 1988, killed all 259 passengers and crew on board the flight from London to New York, along with 11 people on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland. Masud was arrested in Libya in 2021 and extradited to the United States to face charges.
