Operation Moonbi

Operation Moonbi is an ongoing police investigation into alleged child abuse offences committed by Hamish Tait, a former Sydney childcare worker. Tait was arrested in July 2025 and charged with hundreds of offences, reportedly spanning a 16-year period. The investigation has expanded to include over 120 families who have been contacted by police. Notably, one of the locations where Tait allegedly worked is a school in a remote South Australian Indigenous community, highlighting the broad reach of the alleged crimes. The case is significant due to the large number of alleged offences and the vulnerability of the victims, including those in remote and Indigenous communities. Police continue to work to identify all potential victims and gather evidence.
