World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day is an annual observance dedicated to recognizing the efforts of humanitarian aid workers and the risks they face. This year, the day is particularly significant due to recent events in Gaza, where aid workers have been tragically killed and their safety jeopardized. Notably, Australia has expressed outrage over Israel's decision not to prosecute those responsible for the death of Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom and six colleagues from World Central Kitchen in an Israeli airstrike in April 2024. Furthermore, reports highlight the endangerment of humanitarian workers and vulnerable communities, citing incidents such as the killing of eight Red Crescent emergency responders by the Israeli army in Rafah in March 2025.
